Regulatory maps
This page provides freely usable maps showcasing how gene edited (GE) crops are regulated across different countries. Each map has both a high-resolution PNG file or an editable Illustrator file.

Recognition of GE crops in regulation
The map below shows which countries recognise GE crops in regulation. For some countries, GE crops are not recognised and are included with genetically modified regulations. In other countries, GE crops are recognised as distinct from GM. Where GE crops are not recognised, they tend to be regulated under GM regulations.

Precision breeding
Gene editing technology can produce transgene-free crop products. These products are increasingly referred to as 'precision-bred'. The map below shows whether countries regulate precision bred products using conventionally-bred frameworks, under Genetically Modified (GM) frameworks or whether this ruling is still under discussion. Note, this decision for precision bred products tends to centre on whether regulatory triggers are based on the product (e.g. the presence / absence of transgenes) rather than the process.
